MERCATOR.1 — Atmospheric pressure: end of 2010 task
Motivation: Use Atmospheric pressure to add the atm gradient to add inverse barometer to OBC and BDY ( running with time-splitting ). look to add atm gradient in sea-ice.
Status :Running at Mercator on 2.3; coded in NEMO_3.2 .
main tasks :test on standard regional configuration, review and commit.
Principal Investigator : Clement Bricaud & Jerome Chanut (jchanut@…)
Deadline : january 2011: ready for review.
Priority: High.
Science Reviewer : INGV
System Reviewer : INGV

MERCATOR.4 — Mixed Implicit/Explicit? bottom friction
Motivation: Unconsistent bottom stress in 2d and 3d modes. From BOM code. Explicit bottom stress in barotropic equations/implicit in baroclinic equations. Adapted for tidal configurations.
Status :Running in NEATL36 at Mercator, NEMO_2.3.
main tasks : Jerome writes his method on wikipages, waits for NOCL comparaison and finishs the development ( clean, test, doc, review)if necessary.
Principal Investigator : Jerome Chanut (jchanut@…)
Deadline : july 2011: ready for review.
Priority: high

MERCATOR.5 — PPM advection scheme
Motivation: Add another scheme for tracers advection: horizontal part.
Status : Running on NEMO_3.2.
main tasks :review.
Principal Investigator : Guillaume Reffray (greffray@…)
Deadline : january 2011: ready for review.
Priority: Low

MERCATOR.7 — resolving the 2 versions of time-stepping
Motivation: Tracer conservation and time splitting. reference: Shchepetkin, A. F., and J. C. McWilliams?, 2005
Status :Running in NEATL36 at Mercator.
main tasks : Main idea:replace Leapfrog scheme by a Fb tamporal scheme, but keep actual method for updating ssh at 3D time-stepping.
workplan:
1.test some eventual problem of divergence of SSh in barotropic mode compared to SSH in 3d mode ( cf Hallberg and Adcroft, OM 2009: Reconciling estimates of the free surface height in Lagrangian vertical coordinate ocean models with mode-split time stepping).
2.implementation in NEMO_3.3 of this time-splitting.
2.test some eventual problem of divergence of SSh in barotropic mode compared to SSH in 3d mode ( cf Hallberg and Adcroft, OM 2009: Reconciling estimates of the free surface height in Lagrangian vertical coordinate ocean models with mode-split time stepping).
3.test in high-resolution configuration at Mercator.
4.take a decision for reorganization of step for time-splitting.
Priority: High
Principal Investigator : Clement Bricaud & Jerome Chanut (jchanut@…)
Number of weeks : 5 (TBC)
MERCATOR.8 — ECUME bulk formulae
Motivation: Ability for NEMO to use another bulk formulation for heat, humidity and momentum at the air/sea interface based on multi-campaigns in situ measurements.
Status : Development OK, running on nemo_3.1 OK.
main tasks : phase with nemo_3.3, doc,review.
