The 11-layer hydrology works technically, but it is not recommended to use.
The routine for nitrogen dynamics is not able to handle the layers correctly. 
NV is working on that; his developments will be taken over when he is done.

To activate the 11-layer hydrology you have to

= 2. tell the model that has to deal with new input files =
we use USDA for soil texture and the  Zobler (default) file for soil color 
(which increases the risk of having inconsistent soil properties / is inefficient )
